Make sure you visit www.maxmag.com. The top story is a walk down memory lane of events that have happened throughout 2007 that involved celebrities and people in high positions in society. O.J. had an interesting year. We all know Britney Spears had a crazy year. Read the story to see more.

Also in the calendar section of Max at www.maxmag.com, you can click on Max Pix, Concerts, After Dark, Festivals, Kids, MCCS New River, Etc. and Museums to see where you can go to celebrate New Years. The listings are scattered throughout the sections, or you can click on the story titled “Gearing up for a fresh start” to read a small collection of the various events happening around the area Dec. 31.

Personally, I am not much of a New Years person. I guess I just don’t get it. I always watch the ball drop in New York City and watch the singers perform on television and everything. But really, when the ball finishes its decent and we are into a new year, I don’t feel any different than I did when the ball was stagnant at the top of the pole. I don’t feel like screaming “Happy New Year” at the top of my lungs. I don’t feel exhilirated because I am starting a new, fresh year in my life. It’s just not a really momentous holiday to me. Basically, it gives people permission to drink a lot and act like crazy idiots. Is there something I’m just not getting here? To me, Jan. 1 is just another day.

I guess you are supposed to remember the joyous times you had in 2007 and look forward to the hopefully great times you will have in 2008. But, every year seems the same to me. I am always living paycheck to paycheck trying to get ahead, but never can. I guess that’s the American way. I’ll try to recall the great moments I had in 2007, and hopefully get out of this “Bah, Hum Bug” New Year’s rut that I’m in.

In the mean time, I can at least find comfort in the fact that I probably had a better year than Britney Spears and O.J. Simpson. I would NEVER shave my head (unless I had to) and I would never try to steal my own stuff from someone else who owns it.

Here’s to a new year filled with love and happiness for each and every one of you … you can all give a toast or two or three to me on Dec. 31 at whatever party you decide to go to. Just remember to have a designated driver. Happy New Year!
