Well, I have to hand it to her. I watched Paris Hilton’s interview with Larry King tonight and thought she did a great job. She didn’t crack or say something stupid one time during the interview. She didn’t even say the word “hot” once. It doesn’t bother me that she couldn’t answer King when he asked her what her favorite Bible passage was. A lot of people (me included) can’t recite anything from the Bible. I don’t fault her for that. In fact, I think it was a stupid question to even ask.
I was disappointed that King was the one who got the first post-jail interview with Hilton. I watch his show sometimes just because of the people he interviews but I really think he is one of the worst interviewers on television. He never seems like he really listens to the people he interviews, and therefore, nor does he react or feed upon their answers. On top of that, King asks stupid, basic, non-thought-provoking questions. He’s boring. So, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Hilton was actually more interesting than King.
Hilton held her own. I actually believed her when she said she wants to change and do some charitable work. I just hope she follows through with it. She seemed a little bit naive but answered the questions very well. It was the first time I had actually seen and listened to her speak much more than a couple of sentences. I was impressed with her and I have to admit that I actually kind of liked her.
Let it be said right here in my blog … I am giving Paris Hilton the benefit of the doubt. I am clearing the slate of how I thought about her all these years and am giving her a new start. We’ll see how she does. I really think she is a nice young lady. I blame her parents as to being a large reason of why she has acted like she has up until now.
After the interview, Anderson Cooper had a whole segment on everything and anything you needed or wanted (or even didn’t want) to know about Paris and the Hilton family. I love Cooper but I think he was a little harsh to Hilton, as I am afraid a lot of people are going to be right after her television interview.
She survived her interview with King tonight and was pretty well spoken during the entire thing. Only time will tell if Hilton is really sincere with all that she stated. Let’s hope so. But, let’s not tear her apart before we even give her a chance to prove herself.
