Today in my mailbox, I received the funniest letter. Apparently, I have been selected for inclusion in the 11th Edition of “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers®, 2006/2007.” The funny thing is … I am not, have never been, nor have I ever dreamed about being a teacher, so how I even got this letter is beyond me. Don’t get me wrong. I love teachers. I think it’s a very honorable job but I just can’t see myself doing it. Teaching my 5-year-old daughter how to write her ABCs and tie her shoes is taxing enough for me right now. I don’t need the responsibility of having the intellect of 15-20 more children on my conscience. I can’t even teach myself how to perfect playing the piano, or how to parallel park. A proud mommy, a talented graphic designer, constant worrier, a country music guru and general know-it-all … well, yes. But, a teacher? No. I’ll leave that to the professionals but thanks for the letter anyway.
