Saturday (Oct. 28) country singer Andy Griggs will perform at the Tarheel Opry House on Blue Creek School Road in Jacksonville. Griggs has had quite a few romantic ballads hit the charts in his career. Among them are “Tonight I Wanna Be Your Man,” “She Thinks She Needs Me,” “She’s More” and “You Won’t Ever Be Lonely.” His smooth, soothing vocals in “If Heaven” draw the listener into the song’s lyrics…”Don’t cry a tear for me now, baby/There comes a time we all must say goodbye/And if that’s what Heaven’s made of/You know I, I ain’t afraid to die.” What a great song. Griggs’ music really hits people’s emotions and his strong voice always grabs my attention when i hear his songs played on the radio.
Come check Andy Griggs out at the Tarheel Saturday. I’m even wearing my new cowboy hat. Still haven’t taken those line dance lessons though. At least I can start to look the part of a country music fan. The opening band will be Super Grit Cowboy Band. Griggs will perform somewhere around 10 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. For more info onthe concert, call the club at (910) 347-4731.
